Pura Vida and What it Means to Me

The term "Pura Vida" was coined during the 1950's by Costa Ricans and surfers to describe their amazing lifestyle in the tropics. The translation into English literally means "pure life," and it is an expression that I want to live by starting today.

To many foreigners Pura Vida is a leisurely lifestyle full of friendliness and a disregard for time. For Costa Ricans, the phrase often means appreciating what you have, enjoying life slowly, having a strong sense of community, and being good spirited.

I believe to my core that all of those things are important for living my idea of the good life. For me, it is all about quality over quantity. I want deeper friendships rather than more friendships, greater spiritual wealth versus material wealth, and more meaningful experiences that touch my soul. Just loving the simple moments in life.

I currently feel like my life is a desert, though it hasn't always been this way. I feel stripped of purpose, inspiration, creativity, vitality, and spirituality; it is like I'm living on autopilot. I'm tired of this and want the Pura Vida version of life again. This blog will be a place to follow my journey towards accomplishing my goals and living this great lifestyle on a daily basis. If you have any interest in getting your life back into your control and living it to the fullest, then this blog will be for you too.
